EXPERTISE

OUR SERVICES

  • Assurance Services

    Internal Control Assessments:

CAS stays on top of any changes made to the federal judiciary’s Self-Assessment Tool to ensure it can help federal court units and organizations, looking to meet the minimum requirement, perform an annual internal control assessment. Although this tool was designed to help court units and organizations perform the assessment on their own, all of our clients using this service find that CAS can simply do it more efficiently and effectively. With our competent staff, we do daily what court units and organizations do yearly.

    Comprehensive Internal Audits:

Our comprehensive internal audit tests each administrative area covered under Volume 11 of the Guide to Judiciary Policy and the program areas covered by the financial audit program used in the cyclical audits. In addition, we have added other areas of risk we have identified along the way. This service is designed to help the court unit executive and the federal public defender achieve the “peace of mind” he or she needs, given their “pecuniary liability” and their related responsibilities. With this service, CAS can also provide reasonable assurance that the court unit and the organization will perform very well in their cyclical audit.

    Internal Audits of Non-Appropriated Funds:

Our internal audit of attorney admission funds and judicial conference funds begins and ends with assessing the court’s compliance with the local plan approved by the Court and the areas covered within Volume 4 and 11 of the Guide to Judiciary Policy. This service is designed to give the Clerk of Court or Circuit Executive the “peace of mind” that disbursements from the fund “benefit the members of the bench and bar in the administration of justice”. With this service, CAS can provide reasonable assurance that the Court has not used funds to augment appropriations, personally benefit any court employee, or pay for official or personal travel. Also, our internal audit report, which includes a statement of financial activity, can help meet the annual reporting requirement to the Court.

  • Consulting

    Internal Control Manuals Services:

CAS identifies gaps in your internal control manual, designs the policies and procedures you need, and provides annual updates to keep you in compliance.

    Self-Assessment Manager Review Services:

For officers who prefer to run their own "self-assessment," CAS reviews the results and guides your staff from "start to finish" to help ensure success.

    Risk Mitigation Services:

Our experienced, "hands on" staff help resolve recurring compliance issues in the "top three" "high risk" areas: financial management, procurement, and property management.

  • Training

    New-Hire Training:

CAS former financial managers can offer personalized training to a new financial manager employed by the court unit. The training is customized to fit your needs and the CAS training team will be available to answer any follow-up questions after the training is complete.
